The 'Apache on VMS' ProjectLast updated Wednesday, 20-Dec-2000 06:50:56 EST The primary goal of MeepZor Consulting's participation in the Compaq Solutions Alliance involves the Apache Web server. We want to make it run as well as possible on Compaq's Tru64 UNIX operating system, and also port it to OpenVMS. Since MeepZor Consulting is a non-commercial venture, we rely on donations. Compaq is donating things like hardware, software, and access to resources, and various individuals are donating time and effort. In essence, this porting effort is a true 'free source' project, since the code developed is freely available and isn't sold by us. It's a lot like the main Apache HTTP Server project. People may be involved for fun, or because their employers want/require them to be, or for whatever reason -- but not because we're paying them. Project StatusCompaq has released a beta (aka field-test) quality port of Apache 1.3.6 to OpenVMS/Alpha and OpenVMS/VAX! You can find out more about this at their Web page.

nothing much has come of that. So rather than have a parallel
effort to Compaq's own, MeepZor is going to concentrate on
setting up a testing and validation area, or at least some
sort of source repository, for the project. As well as offering
